Men in the Bible: the Men that Cover their Parent’s Shame

by Publisher | Jul 1, 2025 | Archives, Men

Today, we shall consider the counterpart lesson of yesterday’s spotlight by profiling two men who demonstrated unusual maturity by covering their parent’s shame. We shall be looking at the story of Shem and Japheth, who covered the nakedness of their father.

Understanding God: He is Omnipotent

From our reference passage, we see God introducing Himself to Abraham by saying He is the Almighty God. Another word for almighty is omnipotent. In other words, the God of all might and power who has the ability to do and to undo.

Men in the Bible: A Blind Believer

Another lesson we can learn from Abraham and imbibe for a lasting walk with God is blind faith. Abraham was a blind believer with an unquestioning belief in God’s promise, even without proof or evidence to validate it.

Bosses in the Bible: A Boss that Empowers

Another good example we can learn from Abraham's character is that he was an astute boss who believed in the development of his workers. He was a classic example of a boss who empowers his workers.

Men in the Bible: A Responsible Man

Another sterling attribute we can learn from Abraham's character is responsibility. He was a quintessential responsible man, as we can see in our reference passage today.

Men in the Bible: A Fool in Wealth and A Rich Dumbass

There is an African slang used to describe someone like him, “money-missed-road!” Unfortunately, that was how we first became acquainted with Lot in the Bible. as a rich dumbass.

Men in the Bible: A Man of Peace

Another sterling quality that we can learn from the man, Abraham, was his maturity and peace-loving nature. He was a man of peace, full of maturity and wisdom.

Men in the Bible: A Laidback and Complacent Man

However, it is interesting that Abraham did not start out as the larger-than-life figure we know him to be today. On the contrary, he came across as a timid, laidback and complacent fellow.

Men in the Bible: How NOT to Be A Father

Having considered the terrible mistakes made by Ham, the second son of Noah, in turning his father's nudity into a topic of gossip and joke, it is apt for us to look at the scene from another point of view so as to make our lessons from this scenario more balanced. In that regard, we shall be looking at the man Noah as an example of recklessness and how not to be a father.

Understanding God: He is Agreeable

Another endearing attribute of God that we shall meditate on today is His predilection for agreeing with human dreams and wishes, particularly those that are lofty, audacious and do not conflict with His will, a la the tower of Babel. He is an agreeable God.

Understanding God: He Incentivizes Obedience

In continuation of our exploration of God's personality and character, we shall consider today another of His traits: incentivization. He is a God who incentivizes or offers rewards to facilitate obedience.
